Film as art:
The paradox of horror film aesthetics - considerations on repulsion versus visual appeal
Based on Takashi Shimizu’s Ju-On: The Curse and Julia Durcournau’s Raw

This essay explores the interesting dichotomy in horror film, between pieces that lead to aesthetic appeal in contrast to others that create repulsive, uncanny images. While weighing the strengths and intentions of each category, the text attempts to question and develop what seem to be opposing definitions of horror, their efficiency and their reasoning.
